The Mission

It was about to happen, as even the nightingale
will have to end her song one day.
No matter how beautiful the sound.
It makes the masters not less inspiring,
not less impressive and comforting.

It is just to realize that the small chance,
as ever there could have been one,
to be in their presence to ask questions....
That chance to learn how the great ones feel,
composing the sounds evoking so much more
than what words can, to describe life:
the good, the bad and the ugly.

I learned a few insights:
Composing is an intense craft, as art
and any Expression of the soul can be.
To get it right takes time, like a puzzle
requires searching for its completion.

Just the knowledge, that this "old world Master"
wanted to be the conductor of his own death
announcement and his favorite work played
during his intimate funeral, has been a comfort.
As if we did exchange thoughts, about the most touching
Piece he ever created: The Mission, a mission we all might feel
we have in life, when words might fail us.
