Pass-over reflection on Good Friday

Fragments of biblical scenes
have been scattered today
like this morning snowflakes, failing to
cover what plays out in front of our eyes.

Swarms of locust in Africa, so blinding,
they stop all traffic, darkening the sky.
No spraying is allowed to fight them
as another battle claims all the air.

The world is gasping for oxygen
as we watch covid patients
scared in their fight for survival
against this virus that scars their lungs.

This is the time of Pass-over,
and soon Easter celebrations.
No pharaos are alive to beg,
no flatbread to flee with in a hurry.

This time there is no place to leave,
not even a place to flee to.
Look at the refugees amongst us,
becoming the lambs to sacrifice.

What Biblical fragments force us
to reread and rewrite our history?
Who is our Moses to stand up,
leading us through this flood...

Do we listen to the voice,
that forbids us to freely wander.
To cover our mouth,
as not to spread disease?

What is the global disease
that hit this planet?
Didn't we already spread a sickness,
killing each other for own gain.

A new respect is sprouting,
spreading as Growth spurts in Spring:
Love and Care, as couragious medical staff
shows all over the world, what we forgot.

Humanity, towards the oppressed,
the refugees, victims Moses recognized.
The many deaths will silence the pharao's
so humanity can claim their own pass-over.
